Are you having trouble, finding the money to start your very own online business?Do you hate your job, the commute, and all the office gossip that goes with it?

Are you ready to try something else?

Something where you are the boss?

Where you are in control?

But, you say.. I don’t have any money, maybe one day when I have some money, I will start that business. But if you don’t plan for that “one day” then it will never happen.

If you are just itching to start something, then starting an online business is probably the easiest way to get started. Depending on what you want to do for your business, you don’t need much money to set the internet side of things up.

But you say, I have more days left than paycheck at the end of each month?.. This is where you have to stop and seriously look at where you dollars are going. The problem is, everyone looks at the big picture for their budget, such as hydro, heating, rent etc, and swear there is no money left.

But do you ever really look at your daily spending?.. As a book keeper, I have seen first hand where that cash goes with the businesses I help. Are your feet moving before they even hit the floor in the morning?.. grabbing a coffee or a latte on the way to work, maybe a muffin thrown in there, then there is that deli lunch, or the vending machine attack you have at 3 pm, just to get you through the day, then the takeout dinner on the way home because you are just too beat.. it all adds up big time.

Add up that coffee, latte, muffin, vending machine, those alone could be costing you anywhere from five dollars a day and up, even that times five working days is 25 dollars. Which equals one hundred dollars a month. Which is more than enough to set up a website or a online store, or even sell on Ebay.

Take a notebook and add up your day, then pick the one thing you MUST have and get rid of the rest, pack a lunch, bring your coffee, put on the crock pot for dinner.

Save where you can so you can get started on that dream of selling online or having your own web store or website. Come on the rest of your life is waiting! open a webstore today

Has globalization hurt the average Western worker to the point that they practically need their own work from home business just to avoid starving at the hands of the corporations?Workers can no longer count on pensions to see them through retirement, and most 401k plans are underfunded forcing people to work past the typical retirement age. Plus, we now see companies eliminating domestic jobs left and right by relocating operations and/or outsourcing whenever possible. The availability of cheaper overseas labor has permitted most businesses with the luxury of capping domestic wage growth at 3% or less per year for the past several years.

The forces of globalization are putting the squeeze on the average worker and there is little chance of getting ahead by working for the very corporations profiting from it. To have control of your own financial future and perhaps even more job security than you can get working for a company these days, it is time to seriously think about a work from home business opportunity. Here are five great reasons to consider starting a small business in the next year:

Unlimited Income Growth Global Economy Favors Small Businesses Low Interest Rates Thousands of Great Opportunities Financial Control

We may never see income levels rise significantly again in our lifetimes until wages in the East reach a balance point with wages in the East. In other words, until corporations no longer have cheaper labor sources to use, real income will continue to diminish. Globalization will only increase pressure on Western working wages, and slowly but surely diminish living standards for millions.

There seems to be no shortage of skilled workers in low-wage countries giving corporations the ability to contain labor costs by relocating operations, outsourcing, or even importing workers with work visas. There has been no real income growth for the past several years– a trend that is likely to continue into the future. If you really want to increase your income and avoid wage stagnation in this new global economy, then you will need to start a work from home business and create a new revenue stream.

If a small business owner is well-organized, dedicated, and able to adapt to the rapidly changing conditions of the new global economy, they will thrive beyond their wildest dreams. This increased competition is causing a wave of mergers and acquisitions as corporations try dominating their markets through sheer size.

In return, this has also created thousands of opportunities for small businesses. But while globalization is forcing larger companies to cut payrolls, small businesses are booming and now produce the largest percentage of new job growth in the U.S. Companies still need the same work done, so it is possible for someone to transform their current job into a work from home business so that they make more money, have greater freedom, and actually have more job security than they ever had as an employee. Small business opportunities will continue to multiply as globalization continues, as they are the last best hope for anyone really looking to get ahead.

Investment on some level is required to successfully launch any business. Commonly, governments will lower interest rates in order to stimulate investment during harsh economic times. This creates a prime opportunity for small business owners to secure necessary capital. The U.S. housing crisis and slowing economy will lead to low interest rates in 2008 making it a perfect year to secure cheap capital for a legitimate work from home business opportunity.

The Internet has helped intensify globalization, but it is also creating more small business opportunities than ever before. Ideally, you want to locate and exploit the opportunities while avoiding the scams like the plague. This is certainly easier said than done. Small business opportunities are abound right now–you just have to be able to separate them from the cons!

There was a time when having control of ones financial destiny and owning a small business was a luxury–not a necessity. This is no longer the case. In the end, we may all have to choose one day between starting a work from home business or working in some hotel or restaurant making low wages. But success or failure is a possibility with any opportunity. It takes dedication, commitment, and hard work to make a work from home business blossom. Businesses still fail even when their owners give it their best effort. But in this unprecedented age of small business opportunity, identifying the legitimate opportunities from the scams is the first step towards created and maintaining a thriving business.

What if you could earn more money, part-time, than your husband earns full-time, and do it all from home? Would you be interested in looking into an opportunity like the one that was described? If so, a home-based business is for you! There are millions of stay at home moms just like yourself earning significant incomes from home. And in a lot of cases, these moms are bringing their husbands home to become stay at home families! How awesome is that?

A part-time effort is all that is required. After you take the kids to school, and maybe put the little one down for a nap, there’s usually a window of free time that you have that you normally just take a break for yourself. But for stay at home moms who want to earn additional income, they see that “free” time as an opportunity to make contacts to drum up some buzz about their company and product or service.

These are the moms who are made for home-based businesses. These are the real go-getters who learn that if they sacrifice for a little while, that their families will be better off in the end.

If you’ve ever wanted to own your own business, there are several great opportunities out there for moms like you. You just have to know where to look. Not only do you need to know where to look, but you need to have an idea of what you would like to do before you start looking.

Are you interested in arts and crafts? Maybe jewelry-making or scrapbooking would be for you. Are you the infamous “girly girl”? If so, something in cosmetics or clothing may better suit you.

There are so many wonderful industries and companies out there for the taking. But, if you want to earn a substantial income from home, just know that hard work is required. No one is going to back a money truck up to your door and unload tons of cash just because you decided to start your own business.

I know it sounds goofy, but some people actually think that way. In any business, you have to go after the numbers, and nothing will help you do that more than building a business on the internet.

The internet connects you with hundreds of millions of people, instantly. Not all of them will be looking for your product or service, but there is a fine chance that enough will to change your financial life forever.

A lot of people think that marketing on the internet is hard; and it can be if you do not know what you’re doing. But for those who do, they have been able to build a list of growing prospects and new customers that fatten their bottom line, each month.

That can be your reality. What is even better, is there is a lot of marketing on the internet that can be done for FREE! Again, you just have to know how to do it.

If staying home and raising your children is important to you, but you still wish you could contribute to your family’s household income, the great news is you can! And with the internet, doing it successfully has never been easier.

Stay at home moms and home-based businesses - a match made in heaven!

It all began innocently enough. I had an acquaintance that had an knack for spotting valuable things at thrift stores, yard sales, swap meets and the like, a trait I regarded highly. Our biggest commonality was that we were both songwriters and musicians, and John had an outstanding assortment of music, books, artwork, furniture, etc., despite his absolute disregard for all of the assorted occupations that necessitated an education or a tie. While was I earning a solid living in law offices, not making much, but making an extra hundred or two per week, John had located the main distribution point for contributions for Goodwill Industries in Los Angeles, and was purchasing six foot bins filled with books for $30 per bin. John would take the signed copies, or other books which fascinated him or which he was personally familiar with, and sell them to bookstores. Once he sold a script which was signed by a producer and several actors for $900. Each been contained several hundred books, and he had very quickly acquired a vanload of books that he couldn’t store in his tiny L.A. apartment. So he called me and offered to give them to me if I would haul them away, saying that he was going to throw them in the garbage if I didn’t take them. I saw that there were many books I was interested in, so I took the vanload, about 20 boxes, and gave him $50, the first of many vanloads. John wasn’t computer literate, and I knew that some of these had to be valuable on eBay, although at that point, I hadn’t sold any books online. Very soon thereafter, John was getting about three vanloads per week, and I would simply get the boxes and give him $50 per vanload, or about seven cents per book. Considering that some of the books have gone for over $40, this was quite a hefty profit margin. In this manner, I built up an inventory of almost 10,000 books.

I began selling them online, and very soon thereafter I had gotten many times my initial $600 investment back. But what attracted me to this business was the opportunity to do a brief plot summary of the books that I was selling. This plot summary was a lot more fun to me as a writer than the rote, mechanical process of placing the eBay ad, although I did get a great deal of excitement out of watching the number of hits, and learning which authors and genres were popular. I soon learned that, even the least valuable genres, romance novels, which were generally overpublished, could be sold in groups. Danielle Steel’s books, which I had more than any other author, would sell in boxes to collectors or other resellers. I soon learned that my plot summaries, which I enjoyed tremendously, were taking a lot of my time, and that most people who purchased books already knew what they were buying, so the plot summaries became an extravagance, superfluous to the objective of becoming a successful eBay bookseller. I had to satisfy my creative energies by reading the summaries briefly, and moving on. I learned a great deal while doing this, but more importantly I became knowledgeable about which books would sell and which needed to be sold in groups. And, since I had 10,000 books, at the rate of 4-5 ads per hour, it was going to take me several thousand hours of work just to sell the books I had already acquired. It also stopped me from examining other products, or looking for other books, etc. In other words, it became an all-consuming task to move 10,000 books.

I decided to use a piece of software that enabled me to evaluate what percentage of an author’s books had sold on eBay in the previous six weeks, and what was the average price of those books. The software allowed me to make a more specific prediction as to percentage, and put the rest of the books into their groups without attempting to sell them as individuals. This enabled me to move a lot more books. I also quickly learned that condition was imperative, and that there could be a discrepancy between what I regarded as good, and what someone else’s impression of â good was. So I adopted a categorical condition description that I quoted verbatim from a book on book collecting, and that problem never occurred again. In fact, my eBay ads were functioning as an educational experience for most people who were not avid collectors, since they were learning about the importance of condition as it pertained to collecting books. Anything that was not at least in good reading condition” was donated to charities. I found I could sell most other books categorically.

The only complaint that I have not resolved on eBay was from a guy who allowed his son to purchase a book on eBay. It was my 15th sale, and the son thought he was buying a video, and had not looked at the category of the ad. He submitted his complaint before emailing me. I was definitely prepared to refund his money (it was only a couple of bucks). The father did not respond to emails but instead ignored my pleas for him to rescind his negative evaluation. This lowered my percentage to less than 95% favorable, and was very disheartening for a beginner. I joined Square Trade, a company that mediates disagreements between the buyer and the seller so as to permit the seller to have only positive feedback. At this point, I have 544 sales, and still only that one complaint, for a 99.8% rating, a number that is capable of engendering a high level of confidence in potential buyers. Books have provided me with a great reputation on eBay, which I anticipate I will be using to springboard myself into higher ticket sales.

They have also provided me with a fantastic library of over 2,000 books on my favorite subjects: music, nutrition, sports, nature, psychology, and legal thrillers. I needed to become familiar with legal thrillers because a writer’s website had advised me that a writer must know the genre he or she is writing in. My years of law offices has provided me with a wealth of very dramatic stories, some of which were very high profile.

My son, incidentally, has over 560 sales himself, which has helped pay for his musical development and living expenses. He sells concert tickets on eBay, something he is very interested in, and also has a great reputation.

After months of selling these books, as interesting as it was, I began to want to use this new avocation to free myself from the legal field. I had a price tag, and it was about $600 per week take home. I spent a couple of months looking for economies in my process which would increase my hourly capability. But try as I might, I couldn’t really get past $10 per hour, and it was becoming painfully obvious to me that, while it was an enjoyable hobby, unless I took steps to change my methodology, it wasn’t going to be a successful business. I realized that selling books is not like selling manufactured commodities which can be relisted on eBay, which takes about one minute, as opposed to the 10-15 minutes that it takes to write an ad for a book, since books are all unique, unless you have thousands of the same book. I was aware of the fact that many people make hundreds of thousands of dollars on eBay and I decided to seek them out and model my new methodology on their experiences.

I had performed marketing research vis a vis my utilization of eBay software to increase the value of my book sales. I began to realize that I needed new products, products other than books, or more specifically, items from which I could be assured of making $40-50 per sale. Then, if I could sell ten per day, that would be a good living. After extensive research, I came across Tim Knox’s website. Tim Knox writes an e-commerce column for Entrepreneur Magazine, and is a PowerSeller on eBay. In addition, he had set up several other businesses, and according to his website, has made almost a million in the each of the last two years. His website contains several thousand products for people such as myself, many of which which can be dropshipped, or sent to your customer by the manufacturer or wholesaler, and the most complete internet marketing strategy I have ever seen for achieving this objective. He and I share one major philosophy as” customer service is the key to developing an eBay business. The difference is that he has taken it much more seriously than I have, and his knowledge of internet marketing is what I need to get to the next level. His website is very impressive in the scope of information it provides to anyone who wants to make money on eBay, and provides virtually every eBayer, regardless of their experience level, with new directions and tactics for improving existing profit centers or developing new ones.

One of his products is described as follows: We asked 58 of the Internet’s Top Money Makers: asIf you lost it all tomorrow and had to start over with nothing but the brain in your head and the experience of your years, how would you get back on top in less than 30 days? As” This question, posed to many top internet marketers, gives phenomenal insight to anyone who is interested in modeling the experience and results of people who have accomplished great things in internet marketing. He also reminds us that TV shows such as 60 Minutes have featured people who are not extraordinary in terms of education or initial wealth that are making great money selling on eBay. Some examples and statistics he quotes include: As¢ Laurie Liss and her mother, Darlene, armed with little more than a computer, a camera, and something to sell, built their own eBay business that is now selling $30,000 to $40,000 in goods a month; As¢ A 43 year old mother of 3 pulls down $2000 a week on eBay; As¢ There are nearly 69 million eBay users who spend $59 million every day; As¢ Thousands of people nationwide are giving up their day jobs to sell fulltime on eBay; As¢ Most eBay sellers are home-based businesses that sell everything imaginable; As¢ Every minute of every day more than 150 new items are listed, more than 500 bids are placed, and seven new people register to shop on eBay; As¢ At any given moment, eBay is conducting some 12 million auctions, divided into about 18,000 different categories; As¢ About two million new items are offered for sale every day, and 62 million registered users scour the site to find them; As¢ As many as 150,000 people…have given up their jobs to create their own businesses selling from their own website or on eBay and other online auctions. Unlike the as œdot-com crash,as eBay is showing no signs of slowing down. Tim Knox’s experience puts you on the fast track to internet income. His background and products are presented in much greater detail at www.addtoincome.com. It is obvious to me that this man is no hobbyist and is a true professional. Regardless of your level of eBay experience, you owe it to yourself to add this man’s knowledge to your own.

The trend of moms working from home to be near their children has grown in the last couple of years. Now that they have found jobs or businesses to run, they’re starting to realize that working from home is not as easy as they thought it would be. The work they do is hard to separate form their personal lives, which makes it hard to schedule time for work responsibilities and home duties.

The workspace these moms use to do their jobs at ends up being a part of their household, so that makes dividing work and home life even more difficult to do.

Imagine that your office is a part of the dining room, which also happens to be the room where you eat your meals as a family. How easy is it going to be for you to leave your work life to be with your family when the office is 5 feet away from the dinner table?

The realities of dividing work and personal life can get smudged for work at home moms. When that happens, one’s stress level is sure to rise, which could jeopardize one’s sanity. To prevent your sanity from leaving, you should find ways to ensure that separation takes place between your job/business and your family life.

Assess the current situation. Try to find an area, within your home, to have your office so that it won’t interfere with your family life. The home office needs a room with a door where you can be apart from the rest of the house. A den or a garage can be converted into office space that is exclusive to your business.

Some people have resorted to placing their office in the laundry room, just because it has a door! When that is not an option, set up shop in your bedroom to keep it away from the family areas.

Organization is the next step. A messy desk can be a huge distraction when trying to work. Everything needs to have its place. If you worked in an office, your boss would not stand for a messy work space. There’s no difference when you’re office is at home and not at the worksite.

Use inexpensive organizing items, such as baskets with separate compartments to help organize the odds and ends on your desk. You can keep rubber stamps, letters, invoices, pens, pencils, and the like in here. Organization makes finding things much easier, which results in a more relaxed work day.

Keep your business phone separate from the family phone line. When using the same line, you run the risk of your children answering business calls or picking up the phone during a conference call. This causes your professionalism to fly right out the window and takes your customers or employers along with it.

The same goes for the computer. It’s best to keep your business computer separate from what the other family members use, but budgets don’t always allow for this.

In that case, make sure that the business/job files and documents can’t be easily accessed by anyone but you. This will help prevent some of the stress that could be brought on by family members stumbling on a client’s important document and accidentally deleting them.

Be sure to use calendars or planners as they are very helpful when trying to keep track of business appointments or deadlines and family appointments. This will lessen the stress of setting up family appointments when you’ve forgotten about business deadlines you have.

Consider hiring a sitter on days you have a lot of work to do. Being a work at home mom gives you the benefit of controlling your own schedule. Having a sitter keeps the kids away from your office and gives you quiet time to focus on your work and gives your kids a chance to have fun without you feeling too guilty.

Mixing business with family in the home setting can be a major source of stress. Keeping the business side of your life organized and separate is crucial to success in keeping your stress levels down and your sanity intact.

A big advantage that small businesses have today is that of advancing technology. So much has changed in the past 15 years with public use of the Internet alone, for example. It allows all businesses to market directly to the customer through custom publishing initiatives without costing an arm and a leg.

It’s very simple to put together content and develop a small business marketing plan. It comes down to a few simple steps.

Simple Market Research: Use data from online market research to construct and develop relevant messaging for your customers and prospects. You can come up with a multiple-choice questionnaire to run through with some of your best customers that’s short and precise (and you can also include an open-ended question that asks what their biggest challenge is).

Website: When considering your website, make sure that you manage it with the right mindset. Don’t rely on media outlets or competitors to supply your content. You want your information to be valuable, relevant and timely. You also want to make sure that at least half (50%) of the content on your home page is educational and informative, not product- or service-related.

Blog: Chances are you’ve read or heard that creating a blog can be the best answer for marketing your small business. You can start a blog for little or no cost with a number of the top services - most of which are user-friendly. And, if you have neither the time nor the ability to post new entries to your blog at least two or three times a week, consider hiring a blog ghostwriter.

Search Engine Marketing (SEM): Create a campaign by using Google Adwords or Yahoo! Search Marketing. Target keywords that you uncovered with your research survey to drive people to your site. Even bring in a copywriter who specialized in SEO copywriting to get he job done well and right.

Regular Newsletter: Create one that’s easy-to-read, informative and targeted to your audience. Be sure not to make your newsletter little more than a sales update about your business. It should be about them, and what is important to them as it applies to what you’re marketing.

Author: Jess FreerPaying For College With An Online Vision

I don’t know about you, but I would definitely appreciate being debt free when I finish my degree next year. I’ve looked all over for some credible way to get this accomplished and feel it might be helpful to share what I’ve found.

There’s some rather impressive success stories floating around cyberspace about all the money that’s being made online. Some are filled with hype and flash and it’s useful to be skeptical of those.

But some stories - telling of legitimately making hundreds of dollars a day - within the first few months online - some of these are true. Some determined entrepreneurs, starting from scratch, now bring in even a thousand dollars some days - and sometimes within their first few months. These are exceptional examples, to be sure. But it is do-able.

Even if you have no prior experience marketing online, but just your personal determination and vision, along with a clear sense that SOMEBODY is making that money (it might as well be you) then with a little willingness, you can begin working toward a piece of that same success yourself.

With billions being spent online every year, and real online growth expected to continue expanding for at least the next five years, I’m convinced this is worth giving a careful look and consideration.

First, as a grad student, give yourself some real credit:

To have come this far with your studies is a powerful tribute to your perseverance and self discipline. These are vital strengths which can serve very well as you begin creating and growing your own business online. Or in any venture life brings.

All the decisions to keep on, to persist with your studies when you see so many fall away, having to move on; this shows a willingness to be true to your personal vision, to keep believing in a future worth working for, even amidst a culture that’s changing and re-patterning itself almost daily all around. That this determination still holds somehow even as you see the vision might need to be revised along the way, there’s wisdom in knowing this, in giving yourself proper credit.

Second, develop your personal vision, give it a full life and wings.

Breathe your life’s passion into this - so you can better nurture the dream. Take time with this. Write the vision down, in the most active terms you can. Keep it near to expand and revise as it grows. Imagine moving into your chosen field free to re-locate when and where you prefer, participating fully in community and home life without nagging worries of unpaid debt, of not being able to afford all that you know you’re worth. Shaping, massaging and cultivating your personal vision can be central in supporting any meaningful success in life. There’s an old saying, “Where there is no vision, the people perish.” A well tended, written vision can lead to your heart’s desire.

Third, be willing to explore opportunities - outside the box - beyond the obvious.

You can create your own personalized sense of what a new online business might look like, writing your own version of what the specific opportunity can mean for you, in terms of paying for school, covering regular bills, extra cash for weekends and travel, enjoying that special date on occasion, imagining even more to come. The specifics, well detailed, will draw you to them as they unfold more precisely in the future. Set your course directionally.

Again, let me remind you, there are billions of dollars paid for products online every year, with many well known merchants depending on outside advertisers - that’s potentially you and me - helping bring customers to their sites. Everything from dating services to computers to vacation packages, to credit card offers, cell phone services, on and on and on. There are several major clearing houses where you can sign on for free, with thousands of merchants waiting for you and me to create new links to their products. The payoff can add up quickly - a couple hours daily of honest, disciplined work, with a fair measure of persistence - and within a few months you can begin seeing hundred dollar days yourself, provided you stick with it. It can happen even sooner if you really go at it.

Finally - realize, know, understand, believe, consider again - that you are absolutely worth making this extra effort, putting in the extra couple hours a day to create your own real business, nurturing your dreams, watching money flow into your accounts, first a trickle, then a stream, then a reliable source for paying your way to the life you want and deserve. But you have to keep your focus - that’s why the personal vision is so important - make it as clear and flexible as you can.

So, take a friendly pass on the chatfest down the hall, back off some on the YouTube sessions reviewing the latest hot videos, do the rain check thing with the next party at some friend’s place back home - if these folks are true friends, then they have to want you to succeed, regardless. If not, why are you wasting your time?

Maybe someday soon you’ll be showing them how they can succeed as well with their own piece of the e-pie.

So where do you want to be a year from now? Three years from now? Five years? If you had the means to accelerate your progress today, to evolve with confidence into your personal vision, might that be worth some serious consideration?

Many of these businesses are in fact started and sustained with little more than a hundred dollars, wisely managed - a modest amount that can be repaid in the first couple months by carefully working the penny pinching strategies which are detailed for you online.

There are lots of good people exploring this, from all backgrounds. You can succeed here as well. There’s room online for all of us, as we each have something unique to offer.

I’m planning to graduate debt free. How about you?
